Why This Build?

The Philosophy at £1000

At this budget you're moving firmly into enthusiast territory. Every item here is either the community-proven best-in-class or the best value in its tier. We've deliberately avoided over-spending on any single component — the chair alone could eat half the budget if you went Herman Miller, but the Secretlab TITAN Evo is genuinely excellent for long sessions at a third of the price.

Monitor: Why 1440p Over 4K?

4K gaming monitors at this budget point are either 60Hz or force you to compromise somewhere else. The LG 27GP850-B at 1440p 165Hz is sharper than 1080p, runs beautifully on mid-range GPUs, and the IPS panel is genuinely vibrant. If you're sitting 60cm from a 27" screen, 1440p and 4K are nearly indistinguishable anyway. The 165Hz matters more for gameplay feel than extra pixels.

Keyboard: Rapid Trigger is a Real Upgrade

The Apex Pro's OmniPoint switches let you adjust actuation point down to 0.1mm and use Rapid Trigger — meaning the key resets the moment you release it, not at a fixed point. In competitive FPS this translates to faster re-input after strafing. It's not a gimmick; pro players switched to this tech for a reason.

Mouse: Wireless is No Longer a Compromise

The Viper V3 Pro's HyperSpeed wireless has latency equivalent to wired. At 54g it's among the lightest wireless mice available. The 35K sensor is flawless and the 95-hour battery means you'll charge it maybe once a week. There is no wired mouse in this price range that beats it.

Want to Adjust the Build?

If you primarily play single-player games and don't need a competitive edge, swap the Apex Pro for the Logitech PRO X TKL (£149.99) and put the saving toward upgrading the monitor to a 240Hz panel. If you're on a tight chair budget, the Corsair TC100 (£159.99) holds up well for sessions up to 4 hours. Check our individual category pages for the full rundown on alternatives.
